Priority access to U.S. President Donald Trump's social media posts is being offered for sale at a high price. Trump's company, Trump Media & Technology Group, is considering charging investors $100,000 a month for early access to the president's messages on the Truth Social platform.
According to reports by Reuters and the Financial Times, the company is discussing this pricing model with financial investors and institutions. It was noted that a lower fee of $60,000 per month is being discussed for firms that sign up for a three-year deal.
Trump's statements have a direct impact on global markets. Economists say the president's social media messages on issues like tariffs or international conflicts rapidly shift financial expectations. For example, on April 9, 2025, his announcement of a 90-day pause on new tariffs led to sharp rises in stock market indexes. The closure of the Strait of Hormuz during the U.S.-Israel war against Iran also caused dramatic fluctuations in energy markets.
However, the early access fee proposal was quickly criticized by ethics experts and politicians.
Kathleen Clark from Washington University School of Law told the Associated Press, "He is selling accelerated, privileged access to information about what he does as president. This is even more brazen corruption, an improper abuse of government power to enrich himself."
Trump actively used social media throughout his term. During his first presidency, he was a devoted user of Twitter (now X), but was banned from many platforms after his claims about the 2020 elections and the January 6, 2021 Capitol attack. He then invested in his own media company and holds a majority stake in Trump Media & Technology Group. Truth Social is the company's flagship product, and since 2021 Trump has made nearly all his announcements there, from Iran attacks to trade policy changes.
On Thursday, the company announced it will offer a paid licensed data feed called 'Truth API.' This service will provide banks and trading firms privileged access to the 10 most influential accounts on the platform, with Trump's account being by far the most prominent. Democratic Senator Ron Wyden criticized the announcement, saying it would 'enrich Wall Street investors and the Trump family.'
