Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov arrived in Atlanta, Georgia, for a G20 foreign ministers’ meeting. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio will host the meeting, which Lavrov will attend during his two-day visit.
The Russian delegation took a flight lasting more than 20 hours to reach Atlanta. The delegation used a route crossing countries that Moscow considers “unfriendly.”
Russian delegation ready for meeting
Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for Russia’s Foreign Ministry, said one day before Lavrov’s visit that most organizational matters related to the delegation’s participation in the G20 meeting had been resolved.

Zakharova said most preparations had been completed in the 24 hours before departure, adding, “The delegation has been formed, all formalities have been completed, and it is ready to work.”
