The two memoranda of understanding signed in Washington cover energy infrastructure and law enforcement cooperation between the United States and Hungary.
Speaking at the ceremony at the US Department of State, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the energy infrastructure initiative would help meet Central Europe’s needs through US energy. Rubio said the agreement demonstrated that economic cooperation between the two countries was growing stronger.
Hungarian Foreign Minister Anita Orbán said the energy memorandum aimed to develop oil and natural gas infrastructure in Central and Eastern Europe, diversify resources and create alternative supply options. Orbán said her government sought to ensure predictable, stable and affordable energy supplies for consumers, industry and the economy.

The second memorandum covers intelligence sharing against far-left terrorist networks, which Rubio said had long been ignored. Rubio said the United States and Hungary would work to monitor cross-border networks and bring those responsible to justice.
In addition to the signing ceremony, Rubio and Orbán discussed cybersecurity cooperation and multilateral priorities.
