Seventy containers of various types of ammunition were delivered at Beirut port on Sunday under U.S. military aid programs for the Lebanese army.
The Lebanese Army Command announced that the delivery took place at the port but did not specify the types of ammunition in the containers. The command said the shipment was part of the U.S. ongoing support for the army.
The statement said the aid was particularly important because of the responsibilities the Lebanese army has undertaken and the challenges it faces at present. It added that the support would help strengthen the army’s capacity to carry out its missions in different parts of Lebanon.
The delivery followed an international preparatory meeting held in Paris on September 17. The meeting was held in preparation for a broad-based donors’ conference planned to support the Lebanese army and internal security forces.
The donors’ conference is planned for late 2026 or early 2027.
