Marc Marquez claimed pole position at the MotoGP Hungary Grand Prix qualifying by narrowly surpassing Pedro Acosta. Despite starting Q2 with a crash at the first corner, Ducati rider Marquez posted two strong laps at the end of the session to top the timesheets.
The gap between Marquez and Pedro Acosta, who races for KTM, was just 0.053 seconds. Acosta stood out as the only rider outside Ducati to make it into the top five.
Aldeguer Completes Front Row
Gresini rider Fermin Aldeguer secured third place, achieving his best qualifying result for 2026. He was followed by Fabio Di Giannantonio, who also crashed early in the session alongside Marquez.
Pecco Bagnaia, the fastest in Q1, finished fifth with the second factory Ducati, contributing to a strong front-running presence for Ducati.
Aprilia Falls Short of Expectations
The Aprilia team had a quieter session. Marco Bezzecchi, Raul Fernandez, and Jorge Martin finished sixth, seventh, and eighth respectively.
Trackhouse rider Ai Ogura placed tenth, just behind Honda riders Luca Marini and Diogo Moreira, who advanced from Q1. Jack Miller, despite bringing Yamaha into Q2 on Friday, could not progress beyond 12th in the pole fight.
Other Notable Results
Iker Lecuona, replacing Alex Marquez, will start his first MotoGP race in two and a half years from 16th position. Brad Binder, who crashed in Q1, will start just behind him.
Completing the top 22, Toprak Razgatlıoğlu qualified 18th, Franco Morbidelli 19th, Alex Rins 20th, Maverick Vinales 21st, and Cal Crutchlow 22nd.
