Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni announced plans to ban burkas and headscarves in schools, as well as impose a legal limit on the number of foreign students.

Speaking on Sunday at the Fenix national youth festival, Meloni said Italian children should not feel like a minority in their classrooms. The festival was organized by the youth wing of Brothers of Italy, the party led by Meloni.

Prime Minister Meloni also said they plan to require the parents of foreign students who struggle to integrate into the school system to learn Italian.
Meloni said the measure is expected to be submitted to the Council of Ministers soon.
