Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan reappointed Nikol Pashinyan as prime minister in a decree published on Sunday. The appointment came only a few hours after Pashinyan's resignation.
Earlier the same day, Pashinyan had submitted the government's resignation at the start of the first session of the newly elected parliament. He explained that under the constitution the president would accept the resignation and the current cabinet members would continue their duties until a new government is formed.
Pashinyan's Civil Contract Party won 61 of the 105 seats in the recent parliamentary election, securing a majority on its own.
