Pep Guardiola has used his platform to call for justice for Palestinians. In a video released by the Spanish branch of UNRWA, the U.N. agency for Palestinian refugees, the Manchester City manager asked viewers to support the agency’s work and to “keep talking about Palestine.”
Guardiola rejected language that reduces the dead in Gaza to statistics. “They are not dead, they are murdered people. These are not numbers,” he said. “They are not collateral damage. They are girls and boys.”
More than 74,000 killed
The Spanish coach said the Israeli government has killed more than 74,000 people in Gaza and criticized the obstruction of humanitarian aid, as well as home demolitions and forced displacement in the West Bank.
“We admire the resilience of the Palestinian people, but they should not have to be resilient,” Guardiola said. “No child should grow up learning to survive before learning to live.”

“We cannot look the other way”
“Silence today is a way of taking sides. But we cannot look the other way,” he said. Praising UNRWA’s more than 75 years of health care, education and protection for refugees, Guardiola asked those who can to donate so the agency can keep delivering aid to those who need it most.
Guardiola has repeatedly spoken about Gaza, including at a University of Manchester honorary degree ceremony in 2025 and at a charity event in Spain in early 2026, where he wore a keffiyeh.
