Prosecutors stated in a court filing that limited immunity was granted to Lance Twiggs, the roommate and romantic partner of Tyler Robinson, in the case concerning the killing of Charlie Kirk.
According to the newly filed document, Twiggs gave a recorded statement to authorities on April 20. The prosecution seeks to use this statement and communications with Robinson from the period around Kirk's killing at the preliminary hearing in July.
The filing noted that Twiggs gave his statement under oath and that making a false statement could have legal consequences. The prosecution wrote that use-immunity was applied following this interview, meaning what he said in that session cannot be used against him.
The court record stated that the immunity was provided by the U.S. Attorney's Office and the Utah County Attorney's Office. The prosecution is preparing to include Twiggs' words in the evidence file for the Robinson case.
Tyler Robinson previously appeared before a judge in the 4th District Court in the case linked to the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk. Ahead of the preliminary hearing in July, how Twiggs' statement and records of his contact with Robinson will be evaluated will be one of the key aspects of the case.
