An undercover investigation involving Chloe Cole alleged that Planned Parenthood clinics in several states did not offer clear guidance to a patient seeking detransition support.
According to a file reported by Fox News Digital, the investigation, conducted by Live Action with Cole, involved calls to Planned Parenthood locations in Idaho, Alaska, New York, and Washington, D.C. Cole posed as a patient who had previously undergone a gender transition and wanted to reverse it.
The calls reportedly showed staff mentioning gender-affirming services but failing to point to specific programs, treatment lines, or clinical resources for detransition. When Cole asked about options to stop or reverse the transition, some staff said such services were not offered.
In one call, an employee said the organization only provides gender-affirming services like hormones and does not offer detransition care. In another response, when asked about fertility issues and the effects of prior treatment, the staff member said they did not believe such healthcare was provided.
During the investigation, Cole reportedly asked for help recovering what she had lost after surgery and hormone therapy and inquired about available resources. In response, she was told an appointment could be arranged, but it was not believed that such healthcare was offered.
In another call, staff reportedly said the facilities generally see patients who are just beginning their gender-affirming journey. The file also noted that in some cases, employees referred patients to outside providers or stated they were unaware of detransition-related services.
Live Action said it used these calls as part of its campaign against continued federal funding for Planned Parenthood. The organization argued that Planned Parenthood has expanded gender-identity-focused health services in recent years.
Cole said she initiated the investigation based on her own experience. She recounted starting her transition from female to male at age 12, having her breasts removed at 15, and beginning detransition at 16.
Cole said she wanted to see what support people can find after transitioning, especially what the system offers for someone who wants to reverse it. In her view, the calls revealed the gap between the structure that initiates gender transition and the support for reversal.
The investigation follows another undercover study published by Fox News Digital in May. That report alleged that some Planned Parenthood locations could provide cross-sex hormones to 16-year-olds with limited conditions for therapy or mental health evaluation.
Planned Parenthood's website states that many health centers offer gender-affirming services, listing options such as hormone therapy, puberty blockers, surgery referrals, and social and legal transition support. However, detransition-related services are reportedly not specifically listed on those pages.
It is also noted that not all health centers offer the same services. Fox News Digital reported that Planned Parenthood did not immediately respond to questions about whether it provides detransition-related services, referrals, counseling, or medical support.
