Russia has once again clarified its stance on the US and Israeli attacks on Iran. Speaking during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Foreign Ministers meeting in Kyrgyzstan, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko said Moscow has strongly condemned these military actions from the outset and considers them an illegal attack.
Rudenko stated that in light of recent developments, they believe one of the parties has violated the agreements reached. The Russian diplomat stressed that Moscow supports the resumption of diplomatic efforts, adding that such a process would serve the interests of all countries in the region.
Touching on relations between Russia and Iran, Rudenko recalled that the two countries have signed a comprehensive strategic partnership agreement. He noted that both sides are determined to fully implement all provisions of the agreement, including economic and trade cooperation, the development of the International North-South Transport Corridor, and coordination on regional issues.
Rudenko also highlighted Iran's full membership in the SCO. Saying that Russia supported this process and assisted at one stage, Rudenko expressed hope that Iran would continue to view the SCO as a useful and effective platform for advancing its national interests.
