Conor Kennedy, the 32-year-old son of U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., is the subject of an international wanted notice issued by Russia over his participation in the conflict in Ukraine.
The Basmanny District Court in Moscow issued an arrest warrant in absentia for Kennedy, who joined the International Legion under the Ukrainian army in 2022, on mercenary charges. Kennedy fought against Russia in the Kharkiv region.
Kennedy could face 7 to 10 years in prison if he is tried in Russia.
In a statement made in 2022, Kennedy said he had no previous military experience. He also said that he had secretly traveled to Ukraine to join the International Legion and was ready to die on the front line.
