The Athletic identified the standout names and teams in European football for the 2025-26 season. In the English Premier League, Arsenal reached the championship after more than twenty years and will face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final. Bayern Munich set new records in the Bundesliga, while Barcelona surpassed their eternal rival Real Madrid in La Liga. In Serie A, Inter became the most successful team of the season. Bruno Fernandes finished the Premier League season with 20 assists, equaling the record of Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne. Fernandes stood out especially for his mastery of set pieces and his game reading ability. Manchester City's young player O’Reilly, despite struggling to find a place in the team at the start of the season, became an important player in the left-back position. Sunderland, newly promoted to the Premier League, collected 51 points and earned a chance to participate in European cups. Head coach Regis Le Bris established the team's disciplined and determined structure. Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya was chosen as the best goalkeeper of the season. Jurrien Timber, Gabriel, and William Saliba attracted attention with their successful performances in defense. Players like Declan Rice and Rayan Cherki were also among the stars of the season.
