U.S. President Donald Trump will participate in the working session of the G7 summit to be held in France next week and will sit at the same table with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenski.
Trump is scheduled to visit Evian-les-Bains from June 15 to 17, and on June 16, he is expected to meet with Zelenski and other G7 leaders during the session.
No separate bilateral meeting schedule has been announced for the two leaders yet. However, officials have indicated that there is a possibility of contact during the summit's sidelines.
The Ukraine war is expected to be one of the main topics of the meeting. Officials in Washington said that discussions will highlight additional military support to Kyiv and efforts to end the conflict.
A senior U.S. official noted that Russia's advance in Ukraine has slowed and expressed the desire for the war to end as soon as possible.
Zelenski's participation in the summit coincides with a period when Ukraine is requesting more military aid from its allies. Kyiv is seeking additional air defense systems to protect its cities and critical infrastructure.
Ukraine continues to carry out long-range strikes against Russian targets while facing intensified missile attacks from Russia.
France, which holds the G7 presidency in 2026, prioritizes global crises. The Paris administration also views continued support for Ukraine as part of this agenda.
The G7 consists of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The European Union also participates in the group's activities.
