Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan received US Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ambassador Michael Waltz at Türkevi, the Turkish House in Manhattan, as the high-level week of the 81st UN General Assembly drew to a close.
Fidan also met Khalilur Rahman, president of the 81st session of the General Assembly, in New York.

In an assessment of the week, Fidan said the Turkish delegation led by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had held a busy schedule of diplomacy in New York, with officials from the Foreign Ministry and other institutions holding numerous bilateral meetings. He said Türkiye had contributed to work on Palestine, climate change, food security, mediation and migration, and had set out its priorities for the COP31 climate summit it will host.
“The interest shown in the initiatives led by Türkiye and in its proposals for the peaceful resolution of crises once again demonstrated our country’s growing diplomatic weight,” Fidan said.
