US approves $800 million helicopter package for Iraq
The US State Department has approved the sale to Iraq of military equipment associated with Bell 412 EPX and Bell 407M helicopters. Bell Textron will serve as the package’s prime contractor.
The United States has approved a helicopter package expected to enhance Iraq’s transport, reconnaissance and air-to-ground target-detection capabilities. The US State Department authorized the sale of military equipment associated with Bell 412 EPX and Bell 407M helicopters.
Bell Textron will serve as the prime contractor for the agreement, which is valued at $800 million.
The department said the sale would support US foreign policy and national security objectives. It added that the package would help strengthen the security of a strategic partner.
