Assessing the future of relations between Türkiye and the United States, Alice Abdullah, the U.S. chargé d’affaires in Ankara, said she viewed the bond between President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and U.S. President Donald Trump as an example of the relationship between the two countries.
Abdullah said that Türkiye-U.S. friendship was very strong and that the relationship between Erdoğan and Trump was exceptionally positive. She said that, as the U.S. diplomatic mission in Türkiye, they were making intensive efforts to ensure that this positive atmosphere was reflected across all areas of their work.

Abdullah’s visit to Hatay
Abdullah, who began her diplomatic assignment in Türkiye about two weeks ago, said her visit to Hatay was her first visit in the scope of this assignment.
During her visit, Abdullah examined reconstruction work at the Greek Orthodox Church of Antakya, which was destroyed in the February 6, 2023 earthquakes. The United States is supporting the church’s reconstruction process.
The 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations
Recalling that 2027 will mark the 100th anniversary of the establishment of official diplomatic relations between Türkiye and the United States, Abdullah said she hoped the occasion would be used to further strengthen the ties between the two countries.
Abdullah also expressed hope that 2027 would create new areas in which Türkiye and the United States could work together and advance cooperation.
