A temporary funding bill aimed at preventing the federal government from running out of money after September 30 will be on the US House of Representatives’ agenda next week.
The measure, which passed the Senate, would extend government funding through December 11. The bill needs support from both parties to pass the House.
The measure needs House and presidential approval
For the temporary budget measure to take effect, it must be approved by the House of Representatives and then signed by US President Donald Trump.
The House is expected to return to work early next week after an approximately month-long August recess. With the September 30 deadline approaching, lawmakers will work to prevent an interruption in federal funding.
The measure would give Congress additional time to continue negotiations on longer-term spending bills. Disagreements over federal spending remain unresolved.
