Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a phone call with US President Donald Trump's special representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. Zelenskyy, in a statement on his Telegram channel, described the call as 'good and important'.
"I just spoke with President Trump's representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner," Zelenskyy said. "We had a good and important discussion on how to revitalize diplomacy and bring peace closer."
The Ukrainian leader stated that an honorable peace is needed and that Ukraine has long been ready for it. Zelenskyy said the teams will remain in close contact to continue working on all issues discussed.
Zelenskyy thanked the American negotiators for their personal efforts for peace, and expressed gratitude to the US President and the American people for their continued support.
The call was also confirmed by the Ukrainian leader's communications adviser Dmytro Lytvyn. "We just finished the call," Lytvyn said.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak suggested in a post on his Telegram channel that Zelenskyy may make a working visit to the US this week. Citing sources, Zheleznyak claimed that a meeting on a 'peace line' and Lindsey Graham's funeral are planned there.
The MP said, "Depending on the outcome of the talks, although we have not yet received confirmation, a meeting with the US President is possible."
