This page is for those who need to travel to the United States for an urgent reason that cannot wait for a regular interview date, and for companies that frequently send their employees to the United States. We explain step by step how to request an expedited appointment for a temporary (nonimmigrant) visa in Türkiye, how the request is evaluated, and the U.S. Embassy's requirements for companies under the Business Visa Program (BVP). For the general application process, see 1.3 Temporary visa application step by step.
First schedule a regular appointment
- An expedited appointment request is made through a scheduled appointment in your account. Therefore, you must first complete the DS-160 form, pay the fee, and schedule a regular appointment.
- You can view the current waiting times in Ankara and Istanbul by selecting a city in the Department of State's visa appointment wait times tool.
- The Embassy recommends that you do not make travel plans before receiving your visa.
- For fees, see 1.4 Fees.
Who can request an expedited appointment?
- Applicants with an urgent need for a visa may request an expedited appointment. Requests are evaluated individually (case by case).
- The reason requested in the application must be a medical or humanitarian situation.
- The reason must be supported by documentation, such as a doctor's letter or hospital records.
- Expedited appointment capacity is very limited. The request may be denied if no suitable slot is available.
- An expedited appointment only brings the interview forward. Visa eligibility is still decided during the interview.
Step by step: expedited appointment request
- Sign in to your account at ustraveldocs.com/tr.
- Go to the dashboard where your scheduled appointment is displayed.
- Find the "Emergency Request" link in the side menu or appointment menu.
- Explain your medical or humanitarian situation in detail in the form.
- Attach supporting documents.
- Submit the request. A response usually arrives within 5 business days.
- If the request is approved, you will receive an email. Sign in to your account again and move your appointment to an earlier date.
- Approved requests are assigned the first available date. This appointment cannot be changed after it is set.
- If you cannot attend on that day, you must schedule a new appointment through your account.
- If you have problems scheduling or changing an appointment, use the ustraveldocs contact page.
Do not send a second email about a refusal: The Embassy states that a refused request is carefully reviewed based on the information provided. It asks applicants not to send a separate email for reconsideration. Therefore, submit the request completely and with supporting documents the first time.
Is the $750 paid expedited appointment available in Türkiye?
- The Department of State is running a pilot program that provides interview appointments within 10 business days for B (tourist and business) visas for $750. The program runs until December 31, 2026.
- Locations listed as of August 18, 2026: Canada (all posts), Bogota, Guatemala City, San Jose, Tegucigalpa, and Mexico (all posts). Türkiye is not on the list.
- This option appears as "Paid Expedite" in the account only in countries where it is offered.
- Even where it is offered, the fee only provides an earlier appointment. It does not guarantee a visa, is nonrefundable, and is nontransferable.
- Since this option is not available in Türkiye, do not trust people or websites selling a "paid expedited appointment." See 1.12 Fraud warnings.
Appointment for an immigrant visa (green card)
- All immigrant visa interviews in Türkiye are conducted in Ankara.
- The National Visa Center (NVC) assigns interview dates to applicants whose cases are complete. The NVC fills the dates opened by the Embassy on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Ask questions about your case using the NVC's Public Inquiry Form.
- Responses come from TSGSystem@tsg.state.gov. Do not write directly to this address; messages sent there do not reach the NVC.
- You also use this form if you want to transfer your case to another consular district after an appointment has been assigned.
- As a rule, the interview location is the country where you reside or of which you are a citizen. Exceptions may rarely be made in humanitarian or medical emergencies.
- For the interview day, see 3.9 Immigrant visa interview (Ankara).
What is the Business Visa Program (BVP)?
- It provides employees of companies selected by the Embassy with an expedited appointment for business visas and a special email channel with the Visa Unit. The program was announced on August 28, 2024.
- Requirements:
- annual revenue over $1 million and at least 100 full-time employees in Türkiye
- strong commercial ties with the United States, such as a significant customer base in the United States or partnerships with U.S. companies
- regular business travel: at least 20 employees traveling to the United States each year
- Companies from anywhere in Türkiye may apply. All BVP appointments are held in Ankara.
BVP application step by step
- Complete the online application form through the "Apply Now" link on the BVP page.
- Prepare a cover letter on company letterhead. The sample template requests:
- company name, annual revenue, and number of full-time employees in Türkiye
- business sector and commercial ties with the United States
- number of business trips to the United States in the last two years
- email address and telephone number for contact
- Prepare a signatory letter. Each signatory's name, title, email address, telephone number, and specimen signature must be included.
- Send both letters to Ankara-BusinessVisa-MB@state.gov.
- The Business Visa team evaluates eligibility according to predetermined criteria. If necessary, it obtains the views of other Embassy units.
- The approved company signs a BVP compliance agreement.
