The Kyiv–Warsaw train carrying former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and senior security advisers from several European countries was targeted by a Russian drone attack in western Ukraine.
Those on board included Johnson, a senior security adviser to German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and security officials from the United Kingdom, France and Italy.
The train stopped at around 5 a.m., about 2 kilometers from the Polish border, amid attacks in the area. The passengers and railway workers were evacuated for safety reasons.

After the evacuation was completed, a drone identified as belonging to Russia struck the train’s locomotive. The fact that no passengers were on board during the attack prevented possible loss of life.
Johnson and the European officials accompanying him were traveling to Warsaw after attending the YES international security conference in Kyiv.
