Zelenskyy’s warning that Europe could be the next target, citing Russian attacks on infrastructure facilities in Ukraine, drew mixed reactions on X.
Some users argued that attacks on Ukraine did not prove that Europe would be the next target. Posts also claimed that the statement was being used to justify continued support for Ukraine.
Other users questioned Zelenskyy’s previous claims that Ukraine would send large numbers of drones to airports in Russia every day. Some posts said Russia had no justification for targeting Europe and called on Ukraine to sign a peace agreement and halt the attacks.
Some comments on X also alleged that Zelenskyy was trying to drag Europe into a third world war. While some users called for direct talks with Russia, others argued that the United States and Europe were using Ukraine.
Russia announces attacks
The Russian military launched group strikes the previous night against logistics hubs in Ukraine and energy facilities supporting their operations.
Dmitry Peskov, press secretary to Russian President Vladimir Putin, said a day earlier that the Russian Armed Forces did not attack all targets in Ukraine indiscriminately. Peskov said the Russian military’s operations had intensified after Kyiv “opened Pandora’s box.”
