Asian Football Confederation backs Infantino for third term as FIFA president
The Asian Football Confederation said all 46 of its member associations support Gianni Infantino in the FIFA presidential election in March 2027. Infantino, who has led FIFA since 2016, is so far the only candidate.
The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) said it will support Gianni Infantino in the FIFA presidential election scheduled for March 2027.
AFC President Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa said at a meeting of the confederation in Tokyo that all 46 member associations back Infantino's bid for a new term.
Infantino, 56, who has led FIFA since 2016, is seeking a third term. The deadline for nominations is Nov. 18. The Confederation of African Football and the Oceania Football Confederation also support his candidacy, and he is currently the only candidate in the race.
