The Boston City Council has adopted a resolution recognizing Oct. 29, 2026, as Turkish Republic Day in Boston, marking the 103rd anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in 1923.

Under the resolution, the city's Property Management Department will raise the flag of the Republic of Türkiye at City Hall Plaza on Oct. 29. The resolution also recognizes the contributions of the Turkish American community to Boston and New England, as well as the longstanding friendship and cooperation between the United States and Türkiye.
The council also honored the 31st annual Boston Turkish Arts & Culture Festival and wished the Turkish American Cultural Society of New England continued success with the festival.

Boston has marked the day in previous years as well. The council also ordered the Turkish flag raised at City Hall Plaza for the republic's 100th anniversary in 2023 and again on Oct. 29, 2025.
