U.S. Central Command said Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps had attempted twice in the past two days to target a U.S. Navy warship with ballistic missiles, adding that U.S. forces destroyed five Iranian crude oil tankers following the attack attempts.
According to the command, the warship successfully evaded both attack attempts and continued its patrol in the region’s waters. No American personnel were injured in the incidents.
