The Iranian army said US troops and helicopters at Al Minhad Air Base in the United Arab Emirates were targeted with dozens of explosive unmanned aerial vehicles on Monday morning.
The Iranian army said retaliatory actions against US troops would continue following the attack on the base, which it described as an important logistics and air transport hub for foreign forces.
Response to the operation on Larak Island
Tehran said the drone attack was carried out after US forces conducted an operation on Iran’s Larak Island on Sunday. The Iranian army said members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and civilians were targeted in the operation, resulting in deaths and injuries.
US forces struck two Iranian missile launchers on Larak Island. The Iranian side claimed that the systems were preparing to launch rockets carrying naval mines into the Strait of Hormuz.
The operation on Larak Island was the first US attack on Iranian territory since the end of July.
Tehran announces retaliation
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced that it would retaliate for the attack on Larak Island. The Tasnim news agency said initial information indicated that the operation had been carried out with drones.
