Cyber group Handala announced it carried out a large-scale cyberattack in the US state of Wisconsin. According to the group's claim, the attack on communication infrastructure caused widespread internet outages in the region.
In its statement, Handala said thousands of local businesses, large corporations, government networks, and critical municipal centers were affected. The group described the operation as a direct response to the US's "provocative and adventurous actions" in the region.
Referencing American intelligence officials' statements on network defenses, the group said, "US cybersecurity remains nothing more than a slogan, and the weaknesses in its infrastructure become more apparent every day."
Handala threatened that if current US policies continue, this attack is "only the beginning" and that more extensive and severe attacks will occur.
