Heavy rainfall in southern China caused widespread flooding in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The official Xinhua news agency, citing local authorities, reported that 39 people died and 9 are missing in the floods.
Some of the deaths are linked to a breach in the Liulan Dam in the capital, Nanning. Following the damage to the dam, hundreds of people were evacuated to safe areas.
Footage shared on social media shows farmland and telephone poles submerged in water, with some residents waiting for help on rooftops.
