American musician and Dave Matthews Band frontman Dave Matthews has returned to the spotlight on social media after footage showing him holding protest signs about Gaza resurfaced online.
In the footage, Matthews can be seen on stage holding two signs above his head. One reads “Stop the Genocide,” while the other says “Stop Killing Children.”
Dave Matthews Takes Gaza Message to the Stage
The signs were not limited to a single appearance. Matthews displayed the same messages during multiple performances in 2025, including the Boston Calling music festival in May, where he returned to the stage holding the “Stop Killing Children” and “Stop the Genocide” signs.
He later made a similar statement during a Dave Matthews Band concert in New Jersey in July 2025, where reports said he appeared wearing a keffiyeh and again displayed signs criticizing the violence in Gaza.
Matthews Has Previously Spoken Out Over Gaza
The musician has publicly criticized Israel's conduct in Gaza on several occasions. In July 2024, Matthews appeared at a pro-Palestinian demonstration in Washington during Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's visit to the U.S. Capitol.
Speaking at the demonstration, Matthews criticized the use of American taxpayer money in connection with the conflict and expressed concern over Palestinian civilian deaths.
He Rejected Accusations of Antisemitism
Matthews addressed criticism of his position again in 2026, rejecting suggestions that his criticism of the Israeli government amounted to antisemitism. He said his opposition was directed at government policies and violence rather than Jewish people.
Footage Resurfaces on Social Media
The footage began circulating again on social media in September 2026, drawing fresh attention to Matthews' statements on Gaza.
However, available reporting indicates that the scenes are not from a new September 2026 concert. Matthews was documented displaying the same “Stop the Genocide” and “Stop Killing Children” signs during performances in 2025.
