Driscoll, who serves in the Donald Trump administration, allegedly offered his resignation to the U.S. president and met with him in person to discuss the military’s current state.
Government officials who spoke to The New York Times claimed that Driscoll submitted his resignation to Trump. An unnamed official said Driscoll met with Trump to assess the military’s current situation.
The same officials alleged that Driscoll was disappointed by U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s dismissal of some proven military leaders. They also claimed that Hegseth blocked the promotions of several colonels who had worked with people he disliked.
Sources who spoke to The Wall Street Journal also claimed that tensions between Pete Hegseth and Driscoll had continued for months.
