A drone strike sank a commercial vessel off Romania's Black Sea coast on Friday, killing one sailor and leaving three crew members missing, Romanian President Nicusor Dan said.
The Comoros-flagged ship Khoryv was hit about 24 kilometers east of the port of Constanta, outside Romanian territorial waters. It was carrying a crew of 13, including 10 Ukrainian and three Azerbaijani nationals. Nine people were rescued after the ship sent a distress signal, and the Romanian navy launched a search operation for the missing.

Dan called the attack one of the tragic consequences of Russia's aggression against Ukraine. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said she was concerned about a new Russian escalation in the Black Sea, adding that attacks on civilian ships target innocent lives and openly defy international law.
Two other commercial ships have come under drone attack off Romania's Black Sea coast in recent weeks.
