At the GKN Aerospace facility located in Orange County, California, a tank containing approximately 5,000 to 7,000 gallons of methyl methacrylate began releasing toxic gas due to overheating. California Governor Gavin Newsom stated that a serious disaster risk that could lead to uncontrolled release of hazardous chemicals continues. Some schools were temporarily closed and parts of the main roads in the area were closed to traffic due to the incident. Previously, an evacuation order was issued for about 40,000 people. Authorities continue their efforts to control the leak. Developments are being closely monitored.
