President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said in a message published for September 26 Turkish Language Day that Turkish must be protected and developed, and called for passing the language on to future generations.
Erdoğan said Turkish was not merely a means of communication for the nation. He described it as a carrier of history, culture, civilizational heritage and collective memory.

Erdoğan said Turkish had grown richer over centuries through interaction with different peoples and geographies, adding that the language conveys the nation's thoughts and emotions across many fields, from poetry and literature to science and the arts.
Marking Turkish Language Day, Erdoğan said it was a duty to protect Turkish as a heritage inherited from the past, develop it and pass it on to future generations in the strongest possible way. He stressed that the correct, beautiful and careful use of the language should be encouraged.
Erdoğan highlighted the importance of strengthening children's and young people's interest in Turkish. He said that a nation that protects its language also protects its history and future.
The Türkiye Communications Directorate shared the message on its Turkish-language social media account on NSosyal.
