President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will address the first day of the high-level general debate at the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Erdoğan will be the fourth speaker on the first day. Brazil and host country the United States will speak before him, followed by Jordan.
Gaza and Palestine on the agenda
Erdoğan's address is expected to focus on Israel's actions in the Gaza Strip, the need to recognize Palestine as a state and possible international measures against Israel.
This will be Erdoğan's 16th participation in the United Nations General Assembly. During the general debate, the heads of state and government of member countries will share their priorities with the international community.
New York program
During his visit to New York, Erdoğan will hold bilateral meetings with United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and the heads of state and government of various countries.
The program will include events with representatives of Turkish citizens living in the United States, as well as representatives of the Turkish-American business community and think tanks.
On Wednesday, Erdoğan will also speak at the United Nations Secretary-General's Climate Summit. The United Nations' annual Climate Change Summit, COP31, is scheduled to be held in Antalya in November.
Brazil's position as the first speaker at the General Assembly has been an established practice since the 10th session of the United Nations General Assembly, except in 1983 and 1984.
