The latest Russian attacks near the Ukraine-Poland border were condemned by European Commission spokesperson Anouar El Anouni.
In a written statement, El Anouni said the attacks included an assault on a passenger train. The statement came after reports that a private charter train reportedly carrying European Union officials and former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson had been evacuated.
Claim about the train
Der Spiegel reported that a drone attack took place on Sunday near a train traveling from Kyiv to Poland. The magazine reported that the train, which was carrying officials from European countries as well as Boris Johnson, was evacuated after the attack.
EU defense support
El Anouni also announced that the European Union had approved €6.1 billion in support for Ukraine’s air and missile defenses.
El Anouni said the European Union would continue supporting Ukraine’s right to defend itself and reiterated its condemnation of the Russian attacks.
