Heavy rain that has lashed Nepal since September 24 has triggered floods and landslides across the country. According to Nepal’s National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), 27 people were killed and four went missing in 542 disaster incidents between September 24 and 27.
Landslides accounted for 20 of the deaths across 304 incidents, floods for four in 87 incidents, and other rain-related incidents for three. The disasters affected 1,082 families, completely destroyed 227 houses and damaged 142 others.
Footage shows floodwaters sweeping away a vehicle and buildings as crowds watch anxiously. In Dhapakhel, Lalitpur, a house swept away by a landslide remained largely intact amid the surrounding debris.

In Manang district, four bodies were recovered after an avalanche hit the base camp of the 7,126-meter Mount Himlung, where rescuers were searching for at least 12 people; 10 people were rescued alive.
Nepal was hit in August by floods triggered by a glacier collapse and landslide on its border with China, which killed more than 1,400 people.
