In Florida's Walton County, a murder suspect has been evading extensive police searches for weeks. Isabelle Rose Johnson, 38, is charged with murdering 43-year-old Jason Christopher Coulthart and is carrying out an elaborate plan to avoid arrest.
The Walton County Sheriff's Office described Johnson as a "cunning manipulator" and reported that multiple people have assisted in her escape. Five people accused of helping her evade capture have been taken into custody as part of the murder investigation.
Johnson's escape tactics include disguising herself with different hairstyles, hats and glasses. She also conceals her identity by using various false names such as "Harley", "Jessica Elaine Bowman" and "Denise".
The body of victim Jason Coulthart was found buried in a shallow grave near Freeport on June 25. Coulthart was reported missing on May 24 and was last seen leaving an apartment on College Boulevard. The investigation into his death continues. He is survived by a son.
Sheriff Michael Adkinson issued a stern warning to those helping Johnson: "Legal action will be taken against anyone who has helped or is still helping Isabelle Johnson evade arrest. If you give her a place to stay, help her hide, or lie for her, you will face the consequences. This is a murder case, and we will not allow anyone to obstruct the investigation."
Law enforcement announced a $16,000 reward for information leading to Johnson's whereabouts. Officials stressed that any tips from the public are critical to the investigation.
