While US President Donald Trump's approval ratings are dropping to dangerous levels, it is a matter of curiosity how he continues to defeat his rivals within the Republican Party. Although some of the millions of voters supporting Trump in the 2024 elections currently do not approve of his performance, the support within his base remains unshaken. For example, Thomas Massie, a member of the House of Representatives from Kentucky, was defeated by Ed Gallrein, a candidate supported by Trump, after taking a stance against Trump. Similarly, Brad Raffensperger, who defended the 2020 election results in Georgia, came third in the Republican gubernatorial primary after Trump's opposition. In Louisiana, Senator Bill Cassidy, targeted by Trump, was eliminated in the Republican primaries. While Trump acts effectively against opponents within the party, his approval ratings have fallen below 40 percent. Negative views towards Trump are increasing among young voters, Hispanics, and independent voters, while his support remains strong among Republican party members and older voters. White Protestant evangelicals are also among Trump's loyal supporters. This situation allows Trump to maintain control within the party but poses risks for the overall state of the party ahead of the November elections.
