Iran's Foreign Ministry assessed the NATO chief's support for US military operations against Iran as a confession that ends Europe's claim of neutrality. Spokesman Ismail Baqaei said Secretary General Mark Rutte's statements prove that Europeans are not neutral in this conflict.
In a post on social media platform X, Baqaei said, "Mark Rutte's repeated confessions of Europe's willing complicity in the US-Israeli aggressive war against Iran once again confirm that they are not neutral in this brutal and illegal attack."
NATO Secretary General Rutte explicitly supported the new US strikes on Iran on Wednesday, describing them as "absolutely necessary" and accusing Tehran of violating the ceasefire.
The US military launched a series of heavy strikes against Iran on Wednesday night. US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that American forces struck about 90 targets in Iran.
The Iranian military announced that it had responded to the strikes. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) reported that it attacked two US bases in Kuwait and two in Bahrain in retaliation for the US assault. Iranian officials accused Washington of violating the memorandum to halt military operations.
