Israel continued drone attacks on Lebanese territory despite a framework agreement reached under US mediation. According to Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA), a drone strike targeted a pickup truck dumping garbage in the outskirts of the towns of Shukeen and Kfar Dajjal in the Nabatieh province, wounding two people.
That same night, another assault targeted a vehicle in southern Lebanon while demolition operations were carried out in the border town of Khiam. NNA later reported that the towns of Kfar Reman and Nabatieh al-Fawka were also targeted by drones, but no casualties were reported.
These attacks came immediately after Amnesty International called for a war crimes investigation into three separate Israeli attacks in Lebanon in March. The organization stated that the strikes on homes in the areas of Tyre, Sidon, and Nabatieh on March 6, 12, and 13 killed 24 civilians, including 12 children and a pregnant woman, and wounded 18 others.
Kristine Beckerle of Amnesty International said, "In just one week, the Israeli army wiped out entire families in Lebanon, including a dozen children, showing a reckless disregard for civilian lives." Beckerle called on the international community to impose a comprehensive arms embargo on Israel and to investigate those responsible under universal jurisdiction.
The organization also warned that the US-mediated Israel-Lebanon agreement signed on June 26 could obstruct accountability, and called on Lebanon to recognize the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court (ICC). The deal does not compel Israel to withdraw from extensive southern Lebanese territories it occupies, while signaling that Israel will continue attacks it deems necessary.
Lebanon's Health Ministry announced that the number of fatalities from Israeli attacks on the country since March 2 has risen to 4,321, with the number of injured reaching 12,204.
