Voting began Tuesday in Israel's general election, with 7.3 million eligible voters, including 1.2 million Palestinian citizens of Israel, choosing the 120 members of the Knesset.
More than 30 parties and lists are competing to clear the 3.25% threshold needed to enter parliament, and the latest polls show 11 or 12 parties are likely to make it.
The vote is expected to be a close contest between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former military chief of staff Gadi Eisenkot. Polls indicate that no party will reach the 61 seats needed to form a government on its own. On the eve of the vote, President Donald Trump urged Israelis to back Netanyahu.
The election follows four years of Netanyahu's government, which has carried out attacks across the region, and is the first general election in Israel held on schedule since 1988.
