Jimmy Kimmel and Desi Lydic targeted Donald Trump’s appearance at Madison Square Garden during the third NBA Finals game between the New York Knicks and the San Antonio Spurs on their shows. The two highlighted Trump being heavily booed in the arena and appearing to doze off during the game with humorous remarks.
Desi Lydic described Trump’s reception in New York as "very New York-like." Referring to the collective reaction of the audience, Lydic also commented on Trump attending the basketball game.
The program showed footage of Trump appearing to have his eyes closed during the game. Lydic then addressed Trump, saying it was not appropriate to sleep throughout the match.
Trump’s Game Visit Becomes a Subject of Mockery
Jimmy Kimmel sharply criticized Trump’s attendance at the final game on his late-night show. Kimmel reminded viewers that it required extensive security arrangements and that spectators had to wait a long time to enter the arena.
Kimmel noted that there were banners and signs prepared against Trump in the stands, and the main question was whether he would be booed inside the arena. He explained that despite the plan to reduce booing by showing Trump on the big screen during the national anthem, it did not work.
The program also shared footage showing the strong negative reaction Trump received from the crowd during the game. Kimmel claimed this was one of the harshest boos directed at a president during a major sporting event.
Kimmel Links Trump to Knicks’ Defeat
Kimmel said Trump’s presence in the arena not only drew the crowd’s attention but was also linked to the Knicks’ loss. He recalled that the Knicks had a 13-game winning streak before Trump’s arrival, interpreting it as a "bad omen."
Continuing his jokes, Kimmel suggested that Trump’s presence on game night was also a bad sign for Republicans. According to Kimmel, Trump simultaneously reversed the atmosphere in the arena and the team’s outcome.
