Former Vice President Kamala Harris has become the target of criticism over a speech she gave to the Los Angeles Sparks, one of the WNBA teams in the US. Harris's speech, intended to motivate the team, was dismissed by critics as 'a meaningless word salad.'
Harris said the team had an 'incredible impact' on the country, stating, 'I travel the country. Young girls, boys, people of every gender and race are watching the W and realizing how inspiring it is.' She added, 'Keep doing what you're doing. You're affecting people you'll never meet,' noting that these people 'may never know your name or my name, but they are aware of what you do.'
The former vice president said, 'It makes them feel their worth, their dignity, and what they have a right to expect from this world. Congratulations on this game, but just as much, congratulations on the path you've charted. It's extraordinary to watch.'
Outkick founder Clay Travis criticized Harris's remarks, saying they 'made no sense.' Travis also said, 'This league still hasn't produced a team that visited the White House while Trump was in office.'
Former University of Kentucky swimmer Riley Gaines, in a statement to Fox News, recalled that FBI Director Kash Patel was criticized by Harris's ideological camp for motivating the US Olympic Men's Hockey Team in February. Gaines said, 'Was there outrage when Kash Patel was in the men's locker room after the Olympic team won the gold medal? No, I don't think so.'
Harris's speech also became a subject of ridicule on social media. One user wrote, 'I thank God every day that this woman lost the election,' while another commented, 'She's like a party clown right now.' Another user said, 'It's a complete mystery how this person lost all the swing states.'
