Turkish Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş commented on the protests that unfolded during Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s address to the United Nations General Assembly.
Speaking at a parliamentary evaluation meeting in Ankara, Kurtulmuş drew attention to Netanyahu’s visit to New York and the diplomatic protest he faced at the UN.
“He rushed to New York and then left New York as if he were fleeing. Wherever they run, they will absolutely be held accountable for the crimes they have committed against humanity,” Kurtulmuş said.

The Turkish Parliament speaker also recalled remarks he made nearly two years ago, when he said that a time would come when people would seek to avoid appearing alongside Netanyahu and his government, even in the same building.

During Netanyahu’s address to the UN General Assembly, representatives of numerous countries walked out of the chamber in protest. According to Anadolu Agency’s review of footage from the General Assembly, representatives of around 70 countries either left the hall or did not attend the speech.

Türkiye was among the countries whose representatives protested Netanyahu. Demonstrations were also held outside the United Nations headquarters in New York against Netanyahu and Israel’s actions in Gaza.
Kurtulmuş argued that the scenes inside the General Assembly demonstrated the scale of international opposition Netanyahu is facing and said those responsible for actions in Gaza would ultimately face accountability.
