The military tension between the US and Iran in the Middle East immediately affected gas prices in the US domestic market. According to data released by the American Automobile Association (AAA), the national average gas price rose more than 5 cents in just one day.
The most commonly used Regular gasoline reached an average of $3.9430 per gallon (3.8 liters). AAA stated that this was the second sharp price jump recorded in a week.

Price distribution by state
The state with the most expensive gas remains Hawaii at $5.4390 per gallon. In California, prices are also above $5, while Washington state is again approaching that threshold.
The cheapest gas is found in Indiana, selling at $3.3180 per gallon.
The military escalation behind the price increase
The sudden rise in gas prices coincided with military activity in the Middle East. The US military has carried out a series of attacks on Iran since July 8. US Central Command claimed these attacks were in response to Iran's actions against commercial ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
The Iranian military, meanwhile, launched retaliatory attacks on US bases stationed in various Middle Eastern countries.
