Netflix has announced plans to lay off approximately 1,000 employees as it changes its organizational structure. The plan is expected to affect about 6 percent of the company’s total workforce.
The decision will primarily affect the product, technology, legal and human resources teams. Netflix co-CEOs Ted Sarandos and Greg Peters announced the decision in an internal memo sent to employees on Wednesday.
Netflix will continue investing in growth
Sarandos and Peters said the company needed to prioritize employees and resources to support its goals in entertainment. The co-CEOs said the company’s operations were strong and that growth was continuing.

Netflix is continuing with its plan to meet its financial forecast for the full year. The company will continue investing in areas expected to improve its service and support growth and innovation.
