New York Atatürk School, which provides Turkish-language and cultural education to Turkish children living in the United States, opened the 2026–2027 academic year with a program attended by the school community. The event, held on September 19, 2026, also announced a scholarship initiative launched to support Atatürk School graduates preparing for university.
An initial contribution of $7,500 was provided for the initiative. If an equal amount is collected in donations, the total support is expected to reach $15,000; therefore, $15,000 is not a confirmed payment but the total amount dependent on the donation process.

Education in New York since 1971
New York Atatürk School, which operates under the Turkish Women's Association of America, has continued its work since 1971, according to its official institutional information. As part of its 50th anniversary in 2021, the institution commemorated its history by organizing special events and online programs. With the opening of the 2026–2027 academic year, the school's educational and cultural activities reached their 55th year.
The school's program includes Turkish, Turkish culture, Turkish history, Atatürk's life and national holidays. Its educational goals include raising modern individuals who are proficient in Turkish, embrace Turkish culture and follow Atatürkist principles. The institution also teaches Turkish as a second language and aims to strengthen Turkish children's ties to their national and cultural identity.

Online education reaches a wider family community
Alongside in-person classes, New York Atatürk School also offers online education. Accepting students from different parts of the United States and Canada since 2022 has enabled the school to bring Turkish-language and cultural education to Turkish-American families beyond the New York area.
The scholarship initiative announced for the new term extends the school's support beyond Turkish-language and cultural classes during childhood. The initiative covers Atatürk School graduates preparing for university. The existing $7,500 contribution is planned to increase to $15,000 through an equal amount in donations; the final amount of total support depends on the outcome of the donation process.
