Belgrade-based Russian-Serbian oil company NIS asked the US Treasury Department to extend its operating license, which expires on August 28.
The NIS press service announced that the application had been sent to the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), which operates under the department.
Deadline for share transfer also extended
OFAC had previously extended until August 28 the deadline for the transfer of Gazprom Neft’s 56.15% controlling stake in NIS to MOL, the Hungarian oil and natural gas company.
Under the same decision, the validity of the license allowing NIS to continue its operations was also extended until August 28.
Vucic said he would meet Putin and Magyar
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic had previously announced that he planned to discuss the sale of the controlling stake in NIS to MOL with Russian leader Vladimir Putin and Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Magyar.
