Suicides at the French Prime Minister's Office have forced the Paris Prosecutor's Office to launch investigations. The prosecutor's office has opened three separate preliminary investigations into suicides and suicide attempts among staff in recent months.
The investigations were triggered by a complaint from a female employee alleging she was subjected to psychological violence and mobbing at work. The complaint was filed with law enforcement on July 25.
The lawyer of the woman, who is known to have attempted suicide and whose identity has not been disclosed, Christelle Mazza, confirmed that her client faced ostracism and mobbing at work. Mazza noted that government crises since 2024 have progressively worsened working conditions.
Two suicides were recorded in March at the Prime Minister's Office, where around 1,200 administrative staff work. Since last year, two people have attempted suicide.
According to local media reports citing sources close to the matter, one of the suicide attempts is not work-related. However, the investigation into the woman who attempted suicide is ongoing.
No official statement has yet been made regarding the two previous suicides.
