A 33-year-old man fatally stabbed his 31-year-old girlfriend inside their apartment in Far Rockaway, Queens, and then jumped from the roof of the seven-story building as police officers tried to talk him down, according to police sources cited by the New York Daily News.
Officers responding to the building on Neilson Street near Dinsmore Avenue at about 11:50 a.m. on Wednesday, September 30, found the man covered in blood and standing on a ledge of the roof. Despite their efforts to persuade him to come down, he jumped.

Inside the apartment, police found the woman, identified as Pheona Premraj, dead with stab wounds to her face, neck, chest and abdomen.

Contrary to some early posts online claiming he had died, the man survived the fall. Medics took him in critical condition to Mount Sinai South Nassau; in addition to his fall injuries, he had slash wounds on his wrists, ankles and torso. Charges were pending.
Police had been called to the couple’s home about six times over the past three years over "family disputes," with no arrests. "The real bad part of the fighting started about a year ago," a 64-year-old neighbor said.
